Your original files are <strong>never touched<\/strong>. No data leaves your site. Filigrane replaces the URLs your site outputs; it does not block direct requests to files in <code>wp-content\/uploads<\/code>.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"are%20animated%20gifs%20and%20webp%20watermarked%3F\"><h3>Are animated GIFs and WebP watermarked?<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>Not yet. They are served unchanged.<\/p><\/dd>\n<dt id=\"it%20says%20direct%20file%20urls%20do%20not%20work%20on%20my%20host.\"><h3>It says direct file URLs do not work on my host.<\/h3><\/dt>\n<dd><p>Some hosts answer 404 for missing image files without asking WordPress. Filigrane detects this and switches to signed query-string URLs automatically. Imagick keeps colour profiles and metadata of the source; GD drops them.
