wpDataTables Lite — WordPress Table Plugin

wpDataTables Lite is a basic version of a popular best-selling WordPress table plugin. While some of the premium features are reduced, wpDataTables Lite is still quite a handy tool that allows you to quickly create tables in WordPress from different sources:

Creating tables and charts with a WordPress tables plugin has never been easier. It only takes 3 basic steps:

Step 1 — Provide table data

You can provide table data for WordPress tables by uploading Excel, CSV , JSON, XML or Serialized PHP array.

Step 2 — Customization

You can customize and configure the columns of your WordPress table (rename, reorder, add CSS classes, hide, change colors) in any way you see fit.

Step 3 — Publish in a post or page

Once you are happy with the design of your WordPress table, you can easily insert it on any post or page via the standard WP Editor or Visual Composer. All tables will become sortable and will have pagination by default.

Additionally, each table can have a search bar and can have the following functions: “Copy to Clipboard”, “Export to CSV”, “Export to PDF”, “Export to XLS”. All these functionalities are configurable and it is your decision whether to toggle these on or off.

Following column data types are supported. Most column types, except the images, have their own sorting rules:

Please note some limitations of the Lite version of this WordPress table plugin:

  1. The plugin will allow only tables up to 150 rows.
  2. MySQL-query based tables support is not included.
  3. Creating tables from the Google Spreadsheet files is not included.
  4. Create a table manually is not included.
  5. Server-side processing is not included.
  6. Responsive mode for the tables is not included.
  7. Table filters are not included.
  8. Front-end editing is not included.

  10. Google Charts, HighCharts and Chart.js are not included.
  11. Table Constructor Wizard (step-by-step table generator) is not included.
  12. Access to our premium support system is not included.

You can get all of these features by purchasing the full version on the plugin’s site.

Please note that wpDataTables requires PHP 5.4 or newer!

wpDataTables Lite vs wpDataTables Premium

If you still can’t decide which wpDataTables version to choose, you should get familiar with the basic features of both of them, and then take it from there. It all boils down to the type of tables in WordPress that you want to create.

wpDataTables Lite

If you don’t require the most advanced features because you only create a table in WordPress every now and then, or you only create WordPress tables with little data, wpDataTables Lite is perfect for you.
The basic difference between the Lite and the Premium version is the table size limitation. With wpDataTables Lite you can create responsive tables in WordPress with the maximum of 150 rows.

wpDataTables Premium

While the Lite plugin version is great for people who create small and simple tables, wpDataTables Premium is the best table plugin for WordPress and it comes with a huge set of amazing features.
However, the thing that really sets it apart is the possibility to manage any amount of data and create huge responsive tables in WordPress.

Часто задаваемые вопросы

I added a table but see no sorting, filtering or pagination

Usually this happens when PHP version is older than 5.4 is installed. Please first check this, and upgrade to PHP 5.4 or more, if that’s the issue.

How to hide “Showing X of X entries” in pagination?

Go to display tab of the table settings block and disable the “Info block” setting.

How to disable/enable opening links in a popup?

You can configure how the links will be opened by toggling the “URL target attribute” switch
In the Data tab of the Column Settings popup. It is up to you to define for each URL column if you prefer the link to open in a new or in the same tab.

How to hide “Show X entries” block from pagination?

Go to display tab of the table settings block and disable the “Rows per page” setting.

How to add symbols or text before/after cell values without affecting sorting (currency, percents, etc.)

For every table column in the column settings modal you can find text fields “Cell content prefix” and “Cell content suffix” in Display tab.
Values from those text fields will be appear before or/and after every cell content in a column.
This feature uses CSS for displaying the entered text, therefore sorting of the columns will not be affected.

How to change the format of dates?

Date format can be changed in wpDataTables Settings page using the “Date format” drop-down menu.

How to change thousand and decimal separators for number columns?

This can be changed from the “Number format” drop-down menu in the wpDataTables Settings page.

Does what I need

Installed it a couple of months ago. spent 2 evenings of learning and reading the docs, now have almost 100 tables on different pages of website, and still fine with free version. Would definitely llike to see a dark skin to match my websites black color scheme. Also some actions could definitely be automated. Too much manual repeated actions to configure tables in the same way. Some presets or other ways to quickly replicate tables and column settings would make life much easier. Overall satisfied.

Great until it stopped working!

I purchased the full version of wpDataTables some years ago. It worked brilliantly, allowing me to filter and present tables with 1,000's of rows easily. But recently when I check my website I find that the plugin has been deactivated - I have no idea how long the pages on my site have been broken! Re-activating it works fine but this is still a big issue when I don't know how long my site has been unavailable. On my site's plugin screen clicking "view details" brings up a screen asking me to install this lite version - even though I purchased the full version and the purchase code is in the setting s screen! The plugin also won't auto-update, again something it is supposed to do when the purchase code is placed in the settings. This means a very tedious process of downloading files and uploading them over ftp for every update. No support is available without paying a $35 support fee. I'm fine with paying that for setup support. However, when I've already paid a perpetual license fee I do not feel I need to pay that to resolve bugs.

One of the most multi-functional Table builders.

I started with the Lite version a while ago. Initially, I had a little back&forth figuring out how this works, but as developers kindly provided the how-to videos for each function, after a day I was able to create the tables that I needed on my site, and I was pretty impressed with the features this tool has! After several months I had to build more complex tables and upgraded to Full version, and never regret the fee I paid for the premium version. I use things like calculating minimums and maximum with live re-calculation, and very sophisticated filtering tools - my site visitors are quite happy with that. The only thing I would like to have is more pre-defined skins and color schemes. The plugin is quite customizable but other plugins like form builders have 20-30 pre-defined skins which makes customization much easier. Also, a master-detail table feature would be a game changer. Oh, and 1-click upgrading from Lite to Full would certainly be much better for the users. Keep up the good work!

Zero Support

Buggy. Zero support. If there is ANYTHING else you can use, do so. Worked briefly, then stopped. Support is non-existent. Time for a chargeback through the CC company.

The LITE version is very smooth and fast when working with tables with small amount of data, it is limited for some of the features (of course ) but it is justified. I also bought the PRO version and all as I can say is that the true power of this plugin is something that you really do not want to miss. Good job.

Great job!

Creating tables in WP from data source like Excel or CSV is very easy and smooth. Great job!
